SRVMTB Coaches
Some questions mention "students" because they are auto-generated and can't be edited. Please interpret "students" to include "coaches" as well.
If you’re not already registered with Crossbar, it will first prompt you to create an account, and then take you through the SRVMTB registration. The first time can feel like you’re registering twice, but it’s just setting up your Crossbar account before the team registration.
Saturday 11/1 or Sunday 11/2 · 8:30am–5:30pm @Danville Woods Clubhouse
Limited spots available! Cost is fully covered for SRVMTB Coaches and eligible riders ages 16+.
With over 100+ student riders on our team, we rely on more than 50 coaches and volunteers to create a safe, positive, and fun environment. You don’t need years of experience or elite riding skills—coaches just need a heart for kids and a willingness to help.
If you're the parent of a student rider, this is a great opportunity to share an activity with your student.
What do coaches do?
Coaches lead and supervise ride groups and club events, promoting safety while challenging student riders to improve their fitness and skills.

Steps to Become a Coach
STEP 1: Contact the team director at srvmtb.info@gmail.com to let them know you want to become a coach. She will send you an invite to register in Pit Zone as a coach. This personalized invite is sent via email.
STEP 2: Register with SRVMTB by creating a crossbar account and using the registration link on this page.
Become a Licensed Volunteer or Coach with SRVMTB
To ride with SRVMTB, you must be fully certified as a Level 1 NICA Volunteer Coach.
This ensures that every adult working with our student athletes is properly trained and vetted, keeping our kids safe and our program strong.
The NICA Coach License Program equips coaches with training that meets national standards and best practices while developing strong mind, body, and character in student-athletes.
Licensing also provides:
- Insurance coverage for coaches and riders
- Background checks to protect youth
- Exclusive perks and discounts from NICA sponsors (benefits vary by level and league)

Our team is part of the NorCal League, which operates under the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). NICA is a national non-profit organization with leagues across the country, and its mission is to build strong minds, bodies, character, and community through cycling. In short, we use mountain biking as a tool to help kids grow into well-rounded individuals.
Want to Try It Out!
You’re welcome to join us for one ride using a NICA waiver to see if you’d like to become a coach with SRVMTB.
Steps to get started:
- Fill out the NICA Coach/Volunteer Agreement and Medical Disclosure & Consent Agreement.
- Email us a PDF copy of your completed forms—we’ll help arrange a good day for you to ride with the team.
- Review the NICA Coaching Resource Guide
License Levels
NICA offers three license levels:
- Level 1 – required to ride with the team
- Level 2 – Assistant Coach or Ride Lead
- Level 3 – Head Coach or Director

We also highly recommend first-year coaches take On-the-Bike Skills 101—a half-day outdoor course that helps you confidently coach young riders.

Check the NorCal NICA Events Calendar for local classes.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible team! I'm proud to continue the journey that Ken Mozek started in 2008, and it's amazing to reflect on everything this club has accomplished. I'm thrilled to kick off another great season with all of you, working to fulfill our mission:
"To positively develop and mentor student athletes through mountain biking, with a focus on health, fitness, leadership, and active community service."
